SEMARANG – To broaden students' insights and understanding of international scholarship programs, American Corner Semarang with AMINEF held a special seminar entitled “Study Opportunities in the US” which was conducted offline at the American Corner Building of UIN Walisongo Semarang, Tuesday (19/11).The seminar was attended by 50 participant involved with American Corner volunteers and college students from various faculty in UIN Walisongo Semarang. The seminar was exclusively delivered by Manav Rungta as fullbright scholars, working with AMINEF in Jakarta. Manav said that US is a popular destination for international students, with over 1 million enrolling each year. There are several scholarships available for students who want to continue studying in the U.S., such as AMINEF for Indonesian students, government programs like LPDP, and scholarships offered by universities. Students need to go through several steps to apply for a scholarship to study in the US, including research the universities, prepare for tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or GMAT, and write a strong Statement of Purpose with good recommendations. Meanwhile, for Fulbright applicants, an acceptance letter is not required before applying as the Fulbright team will assist with the process. “Apply first, then the fullbright scholarship team will help you choose a university and help you get an LOA from the university,” he said. According to him, there are many benefits that students get when they graduate from the US. Therefore, this seminar aims to give students a better understanding of study abroad opportunities, especially in the US.
